Fort Mason from the 2nd Seminole War was on the shores of Lake Eustis in Lake County. On December 8th there will be an unveiling of a historical marker to the fort at the local park. I have to work that day and won't be up in central Florida, but hopefully some of my other friends who read this can attend. Here is what the Orlando Sentinel said:
Lake Historical Society will unveil marker for Fort Mason on Dec. 8 at Umatilla's Larkin Park on State Road 19
The Lake County Historical Society and the Ocklawaha Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will present Lake County's seventh state historical marker, which will commemorate Fort Mason of the Second Seminole War (1835-1842).
An unveiling ceremony is set for 11 a.m. Dec. 8 at Umatilla's Larkin Park on State Road 19.
