The Seminole Tribe just held tribal council elections.
Tribal Chairman Mitchell Cypress has been reelected.
Former Chairman James Billie is still building chickees. He was not allowed to run. The council said that he did not fulfill the residence requirement to run.
Understanding tribal politics is probably harder than understanding the Holy Roman Empire. (Which was neither of the three.) There are different tribal factions and clan divisions that are not easy to understand.
From my own observations, James Billie was more popular outside the tribe than within. Mitchell Cypress is more popular within the tribe than known on the outside. But I think the close number of votes is also very telling.
And as tribal politics go, they can turn on a dime in an instant. Someone who was antagonist yesterday will be ally the next.
