Wow, the War of 1812 Grand Tactical was one of the best events I have ever been at. I will give a full update when I am able too.
The event was held at Genesee Country Village in western New York. The reenactors / interpreters were the best I have ever seen. The camps and uniforms were great. This outdid anything I have ever seen in Florida. (Sorry guys.)
Genesee village has 68 historical building built between 1798 and 1902. As much as I like Westville, Genesee Village is a step above. Almost every building has a full-time interpreter there, and every day, to talk about the building history or work their craft. They are knowledgeable on the building and the history.
Steve Abolt and the U.S. 7th Infantry were outstanding, and I hope to do many more events with them.
We are coming up on the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812, so get involved. This is one of my favorite time periods. And the best hats.
