I almost forgot this anniversary. It was my first day back at work, so I had a lot on my mind.
I try to remember this date every year.
On August 14th, 1842, Col. William J. Worth declared the end of hostilities in Florida, ending the 2nd Seminole War.
The following day on August 15th, 1842, a ceremony was held at St. Francis Barracks cememtary in St. Augustine, to bury the remains of the fallen soldiers in three pyramids.
