I have moved to Tallahassee. I had 10 years with the Florida park service down in the Everglades, but it came time for a change. My biggest worry was my health, which in the past year had much difficulty with some major mobility issues. My knees and ankles have deteriorated greatly with age. I lost a lot of weight, which helped, but just cannot bend, kneel, stoop, and climb over trees and logs like I once did. I seem to share a lot of the same health issues as my twin sister, who is on disability for the rest of her life with the same problems.
On the positive side, I have a job in the state archives. I make it a policy on my blog not to get specific with my employer/work. But I will say that it is like brer rabbit asking not to be thrown in the briar patch, and I have been thrown. I have access to a lot of information that I didn't beforehand, and that was a lot. I have a small apartment, and close friends can stay over with the guest bed and look through my library. I don't loan out things anymore, because it seems like they don't come back. But you can spend the night reading here.
I now have weekends off and will be within a few hours drive to many of the 1812 events that I am interested in attending next year. Look forward to seeing some of my travels here and on youtube.
