Looks Like My Reenacting Days Are Over.

After almost 27 years doing the living history and reenacting, I am faced with the decision that it is time to give it up. Not because gas is four times more expensive than when I started, and I am at the extreme southwest corner of the peninsula, which makes it expensive to travel anywhere. And not because I have to work most weekends, because that is what I have been doing for 12 years.

Simply, I'm dying. It's a slow, painful death. It might take years to kill me off, but I am not getting around very well. The complications of diabetes have hit me hard this past week. I am not able to walk any great distance and do not know how I will be in the future.

I have really enjoyed all the years with my friends and would not have wanted any different. There are two events that I hope to attend in the next eight months, but I am not making any other plans.
