I'm back after a week. Time to clean up from Dade and prepare for the next event. My flying squirrel was alone for a week, and was really eager to get out of his cage. I opened the cage and he immediately jumped out and ran all over the house. It took me about 30 minutes to catch him when it was time to put him back. So he has been very playful and squirmy.
I had to work Monday and Tuesday, but I now have some time today that I can post photos I took at Dade. Since I didn't have to be at work until 2 p.m. on Monday, I took a quick drive down to the Miccosukee Festival. (Okay, I know a lot of you are envious when I say that.)
There was a lot of patchwork this year, but none within my budget. I was looking at $170 for a short-sleeve one-banded shirt, so there is no hope of affording a jacket that I really wanted. So I got a t-shirt instead.
Anyway, if you haven't been to the reservation in a while, they have cleaned up the museum and added more chickees. Behind the museum is a boardwalk with an overlook that is one of the best in the glades. If you want a good place to meditate for hours, I would pick this one.
And yes, Miccosukee Indians still wrestle alligators!
